A Year in Review 2022

A Year in Review 2022

Hi friends! I hope you had a Merry Christmas and you're looking forward to bringing in the New Year! I wanted to end the year by introducing the first of many blogs to come by sharing some of the amazing highlights experienced this year.

1. Boujie Vegan Bakery turned one year old!

It's hard to believe how quickly the first year went by. I've learned so much since the start and things will only continue to improve as time goes on. I want to thank everyone that has supported the business this year, it is so greatly appreciated!

2. We became vendors at the Overland Park Farmers Market

We braced every element of nature this year introducing local people to BVB. The love and loyalty was too real. As first time vendors at the nations best farmers market we had back to back weekends selling out––rain and shine! Overall it was an unforgettable experience getting to interact with customers week after week. As some of you may already know we will not be returning next year as we set our sights on the east coast. We'll be relocating to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2023 and more details regarding the move will be announced as the date approaches.

3. Attended the largest vegan festival, Vegandale in Dallas, Texas

I'm not sure what I got me and my mother into preparing for this festival but we tirelessly prepared and sold well over 600 cakes slices and several dozen cookies! Dallas showed love even in the cold conditions. It was such a memorable experience having my family present to help, running into an old co-worker and even seeing my computer teacher from middle school! It was so great to get the products out to such a large and diverse vegan audience but I would not do that again without a full team of staff 😅.

Reflecting on these experiences makes me appreciate every moment that comes with building a business. Enjoying the process is easier said than done but as the business grows, I know that I won't experience these humble beginnings again. In a world of instant gratification and viral moments its easy to get caught up in wanting to be a well known name. The reality is that a good thing takes time to build. Often times we can find ourselves coveting the success of someone else without knowing the weight it carries. In the past year, I've learned the importance of celebrating every milestone. Recognizing that each milestone makes the journey worthwhile and most importantly it builds character. Such character is what will be sustained in the end to carry the business through any circumstance that may be faced in the future. The journey isn't easy and the future can feel uncertain but I know that it will all be worth it in the end. Thank you for taking the time to read this blog post, have a blessed New Year!

  • I’m SO SAD to hear you’re moving! I loved getting slices of your lemon cake for me and cookies for my husband and son at the OPFM! :( But congratulations on the success (it’s so well deserved!) and good luck in the future!
